Party Leaders Clash: Rupali Chakankar Criticizes Rupali Patil Thombre
Rupali Chakankar, a leader from Ajit Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has once again been entrusted with the responsibility of chairing the State Women's Commission. However, her appointment has sparked opposition from within the party, with leader Rupali Patil Thombre expressing dissatisfaction. Thombre has demanded that, following the “one person, one post” principle, Chakankar should be relieved of her role as the NCP State Women’s President. In response, Rupali Chakankar has hit back at Thombre.
Chakankar's Response to Thombre
“A single individual doesn’t represent the party, and those who have joined us from other parties are not fully aware of the party’s ideological stance or its goals and policies. If the same person keeps criticizing repeatedly, it reveals their mindset, which frankly doesn't concern me much,” said Chakankar in response to Thombre’s remarks.
While addressing the criticism, Chakankar added, “I have worked across the state and built the party’s organization. During my tenure with the commission, I fulfilled my responsibilities there as well. It doesn’t seem appropriate to respond to such remarks. This is a moment of joy for me as the party has entrusted me with responsibility once again, showing faith in my work, and for that, I am grateful.”
Ongoing Tensions Within the Party
The tensions between Rupali Patil Thombre and Rupali Chakankar are not new, as they have previously exchanged accusations. With Chakankar’s reappointment to the commission, discontent among party members has resurfaced. Recently, Pune city NCP President Deepak Mankar also voiced his dissatisfaction. Mankar, during a gathering with party workers, announced that he is considering resigning from the party, openly expressing his disapproval of recent developments.
