Strict Action by Yogi Government Against Mixing Spit and Urine in Food

After deciding to display the names of hotel owners and operators on shop signboards, the Yogi government is now set to take strict action against those found mixing spit and urine in food. The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to introduce a new ordinance for this purpose. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a meeting of senior officials from the Home, Food and Civil Supplies, and Legal Departments was held on Tuesday to discuss this issue.

According to sources, the Yogi government is planning to introduce two new ordinances: “Prohibition of Pseudonymous and Disharmonious Actions and Spitting, 2024” and “Uttar Pradesh Food Adulteration Prevention (Consumer’s Right to Know) Ordinance, 2024.”

Officials have indicated that both ordinances will include provisions for criminal action. Last month, several incidents of food adulteration were reported in Uttar Pradesh. Some cases involved the mixing of spit and human urine in food. These cases emerged after the government ordered the public display of hotel operators' names and addresses on banners.

The government has stated that the decision to reveal the names of hotel operators has already been announced. Now, through these new ordinances, strict legal action will be taken against those involved in contaminating food with spit or human urine. Both ordinances will be interrelated, ensuring that consumers have the right to know the quality and place of preparation of food products.

Incidents of Food Adulteration

1. September 13 – In Ghaziabad, a juice vendor was beaten by a mob for allegedly mixing urine in juice and serving it to customers.  
2. September 12 – In Saharanpur, a young man was caught on video spitting on dough while preparing bread in a hotel. The police took action against him after the video went viral.  
3. September 23 – In Shamli, a vendor was seen spitting into juice while preparing it. This incident also went viral on social media.
