In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, there are over 6,30,000 registered properties, including residential, industrial, non-residential, mixed-use, and vacant land. Taxes are being collected from these property owners by the municipal corporation’s tax assessment and collection department. The department has gathered comprehensive information about the defaulters among these property owners, and instructions were issued to all administrative and regional officers during a recent meeting regarding the defaulters. A list of defaulters owing over five lakh rupees was distributed to the respective regional officers during this meeting. The defaulters will face action in three stages, with clear instructions provided.

Taxes are being collected from these property owners by the municipal corporation’s tax assessment and collection department. The department has gathered comprehensive information about the defaulters among these property owners, and instructions were issued to all administrative and regional officers during a recent meeting regarding the defaulters. A list of defaulters owing over five lakh rupees was distributed to the respective regional officers during this meeting. The defaulters will face action in three stages, with clear instructions provided. In the first stage, administrative and regional officers have been instructed to obtain the 7/12 extracts and property cards of defaulters owing over five lakh rupees within the next ten days. Additionally, letters should be sent to the concerned talathi (revenue officer) to register the burden of overdue amounts on the 7/12 extracts of these defaulters within the next ten days. These instructions were given by Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of the Tax Assessment and Collection Department.
In the Second Stage, the Municipal Corporation Will Launch a Property Seizure Campaign!
So far this year, 3,72,667 property owners have paid taxes amounting to 507 crore rupees. However, there is still an outstanding amount of 725 crore rupees from the previous year’s taxes. An additional 45.78 crore rupees remain due from those who have made partial payments, and 233 crore rupees from this year’s tax demand remains unpaid. Of this, 84.8 crore rupees are yet to be collected from those who have made partial payments. Among the defaulters in the city, 2,022 property owners owe more than five lakh rupees each, totaling a debt of 280.68 crore rupees. If these defaulters do not pay their outstanding taxes within the next ten days, property seizure actions will begin. These instructions were issued to the administrative and regional officers during the meeting.
In the Third Stage, Seized Properties Will Be Auctioned!
In the future, defaulters who fail to pay their overdue taxes will have their properties seized by the municipal corporation. Seized properties will then be auctioned by the corporation. After property seizure, the auction process will proceed as per instructions given to regional officers and administrative officers during the meeting.
Publicizing Defaulters Owing Over Five Lakh Rupees!
– The department will raise awareness through creative campaigns to appeal to defaulters.
– Names of defaulters owing over five lakh rupees will be published in newspapers and on social media.
– Defaulters’ names will be announced through loudspeakers near the properties, followed by the property seizure action.
Avoid Property Seizure by Paying Your Taxes Within Ten Days!
Property owners in the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits have always been diligent in paying their taxes, contributing to the city's development. However, some defaulters still have not paid their overdue taxes, which now includes late fees. Among the defaulters who have not paid their property taxes to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, 2,022 property owners owe more than five lakh rupees each, with a total outstanding amount of 280 crore rupees. The municipal corporation will prioritize the seizure of these properties during the property seizure campaign. Property owners are urged to promptly pay their outstanding dues to avoid further action. Defaulters owing over five lakh rupees should pay their overdue taxes within the next ten days. Otherwise, the burden of the overdue amount will be levied on their 7/12 extracts. Defaulters are advised to immediately pay their taxes to avoid the actions of levying the burden on the 7/12 extract, property seizure, and auctioning. The municipal corporation will continue to enforce a strict campaign to collect taxes from defaulters.
