Brahmin Community Demands 30 Constituencies, Including Chinchwad, Kothrud, Thane, and Dombivli
– Special Emphasis on Chinchwad, Demand to Maharashtra Brahmin Sabha’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule
Pimpri, October 4 (PCB) – The Brahmin Mahasabha has made a strong demand for a Brahmin candidate to be fielded from 30 assembly constituencies in the state, including Chinchwad, Kothrud, Kasba, Thane, and Kalyan-Dombivli. Dr. Sachin Bodhni, president of the Maharashtra Brahmin Sabha, has sent a letter regarding this to BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule. They have emphasized the need to prioritize Chinchwad, where there is a significant number of aspirants from the Bahujan community, posing a risk of rebellion and vote division.
In his letter, Dr. Bodhni stated that the Brahmin community has consistently supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has full faith in its leadership. However, there is an urgent need for political representation for the Brahmin community in the state. Therefore, they are demanding a minimum of 30 seats for the Brahmin community in the Maharashtra Assembly.
Dr. Bodhni noted that the Brahmin community is particularly keen on Chinchwad. He mentioned that the Brahmin voter base in the Chinchwad assembly constituency is decisive, and they strongly urge the BJP to field a Brahmin candidate from this constituency. Given the high number of aspirants from the Bahujan community in Chinchwad, there is an unavoidable risk of rebellion if anyone else is nominated, leading to a division of votes. Providing an opportunity for a Brahmin candidate could make victory in this constituency easily attainable. The Marathi Brahmin and multilingual Brahmin communities together have over 80,000 voters in Chinchwad. The Brahmin community always votes thoughtfully, and their votes should be utilized appropriately. The BJP has consolidated Brahmin votes, especially in the Chinchwad constituency. The Brahmin community has consistently voted as a duty, but this time, they request the BJP to provide leadership opportunities for a Brahmin candidate.
Brahmin Voters Decisive in 45 Constituencies
In the state, the Brahmin voter population is decisive in 45 assembly constituencies. They are demanding that Brahmin candidates be given opportunities in at least 30 of these constituencies. Qualified Brahmin candidates are available in constituencies like Kothrud in Pune, Kasba, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Thane, and Kalyan-Dombivli. They will present their names at the appropriate time. In recent years, there have been attempts to disrupt the social environment in the state, deliberately targeting the Brahmin community. In this context, it has become essential for the Brahmin community to take a political stance, which is why they have come together, Dr. Bodhni clarified in the letter.
BJP Should Not Take Brahmin Community for Granted
Various communities across the state have organized themselves and shown political awareness. The Brahmin community is also becoming aware and organizing itself. Despite not having reservations in fields like education and employment, the Brahmin community has sustained itself through hard work, intelligence, and quality. Therefore, the BJP should not take the Brahmin community for granted. There are capable Brahmin leaders in many constituencies across the state, but they do not get opportunities to step forward. When given the chance, they have consistently demonstrated their leadership. Thus, providing opportunities to the right candidates will enable the Brahmin community to offer successful leadership, Dr. Bodhni assured.
Need for a Change in Approach
The Brahmin community has made many sacrifices so as to avoid conflict in the past, but now it is necessary for the community to fight for its rights, and for the party to honorably recognize and provide opportunities to Brahmin candidates. The Brahmin community has always stood firm in support of Hindutva and has backed the BJP, and this support will continue in the future. However, if they are not given candidacy this time, the community will have to reconsider its stance, which is a serious warning expressed in this letter.
